Jamie & Nick | Knik Glacier
I would have never gone to Alaska… much less Knik Glacier on my own. Jamie posted on facebook about her upcoming wedding.. that if you wanted to attend, you’d have to pay for your own helicopter ticket or something along those lines. My mom saw the post. Jamie had been stationed here at Barksdale previously and got to know my mom. My mom commented jokingly asking if Jamie needed a photographer. Jamie responded with “I do… does Olivia want to photograph it?” totally a half-joke, right? Except one thing led to another, I immediately started texting with Jamie trying to figure out logistics… Could this actually work? Could Olivia Lott Photography be going to Anchorage, Alaska in October for an elopement on a GLACIER!? Well, next thing you know… I’m sitting at Ki Mexico booking a flight to Alaska for my husband and me. We were set to fly out October 19th, 2023 and return home on the 23rd.
October 21st is a day I will never forget. We arrived at Outbound Heli Adventures and got to talking to the crew that would be taking us to the glacier. A lot of logistics go into something like this… your weight, gear weight, etc. is all calculated to figure out who is going on what helicopter. That day, we flew in three helicopters to the Glacier Pool on Knik Glacier. When the ceremony was over, we took a few photos at the glacier pool, then we hopped in a helicopter and flew to the top of one of the mountains for some mountain-top portraits. What an incredible experience. We flew back threw a valley and it was easily one of the coolest experiences. I never in a million years would have thought I’d have an opportunity like this.
I can not thank Jamie & Nick enough for giving me this experience. Truly once in a lifetime.
